Wat is leuk aan het spel?
De regels zijn weer enorm eenvoudig, wat Cloud City een prima familiespel maakt.
Ook de spelconcepten zijn ook super eenvoudig. Een tegel is in vier vlakken verdeeld. In twee van die vlakken staat een gebouw afgebeeld. Kies een tegel uit je hand. Plaats een tegel in je 3x3 raster. Zet op die tegel de twee gebouwen die erop afgebeeld zijn en, als je dat wil en kan, verbindt de geplaatste gebouwen met andere gebouwen op het bord door middel van loopbruggen.
Je hebt tijdens het spel alleen wat ruimtelijk inzicht nodig. Welke loopbruggen zijn er nog beschikbaar? Hoe zorg ik dat ik zoveel mogelijk loopbruggen kan maken? Zonder af te snijden natuurlijk. Er zijn drie soorten gebouwen, van drie verschillende hoogtes en als je een middelgroot gebouw precies in het potentiële pad van een loopbrug voor kleine gebouwen plaats, kun je die loopbrug niet bouwen.
Deze oefening wordt nog ietsje moeilijker, maar wel leuker, als je de opdrachtkaarten erbij voegt. Moeilijker, een beetje, maar nog steeds ruim binnen het familiespel segment hoor. Deze kaarten geven je extra punten of minpunten als je aan een bepaalde opdracht voldoet. Je moet een bepaald aantal loopbruggen hebben van een bepaalde lengte, anders krijg je minpunten bijvoorbeeld. Deze extra uitdaging, maakt elk potje weer ietsje anders, maar wel extra leuk.
De plastic componenten geven het spel een mooi 3D uiterlijk. Het staat leuk op tafel.
Wat is minder aan het spel?
Ja, het spel heet Cloud City en wolken zijn wit(achtig), maar wat mij betreft had er ietsje meer artwork op de tegels gemogen. Nu zijn het gewoon witte tegels met twee gekleurde vierkantjes erop. Vogeltje. Luchtballon. Drone. Vlieger. Open plek in de wolken. Zoiets. Dat had er toch wel op gekund?
